Earth Day - April 22, 2012

RWF Uganda 2010
The entire Obutu village celebrate
the visit of Ryan's Well monitoring
team; they introduced their Water
Committee members, danced, put
on skits and recited a poem of
gratitude.

Celebrated every April 22, Earth Day is the largest, most celebrated environmental event worldwide. More than six million Canadians join 1 billion people in over 170 countries in staging events and projects to address local environmental issues.

Earth Day offers an excellent opportunity for individuals, schools, community groups, corporations – and more, to highlight issues surrounding the global water and sanitation crisis.

In raising awareness, we help educate others on the impacts on those living in deeply affected regions and how changes at home can help establish sustainable, environmentally-friendly behaviours.

In supporting new clean water and sanitation projects, we’re helping to sustain, mobilize and strengthen communities. Lives are saved and people are empowered.

How can you mark Earth Day?

  • Learn more about the impacts of clean water and sanitation
  • Choose to support one of our current Projects Needing help or allow us to direct the funds where they’re needed most.
  • Start your own fundraising initiative! Organize a bake sale, movie-night, dance, run or other event to help raise funds. Our fundraising resources can help you get started.

Then, be sure to share your actions with everyone you know!
