Spotlight on - Lesley Marino

Lesley MarinoIn late February 2010, Ryan's Well representatives travelled to Uganda on a regular monitoring trip to visit projects and meet with local partners. On this particular trip, we were fortunate to be joined by professional photographer, Lesley Marino.

Helping us capture the incredible people, communities, struggles, impacts and un-told stories of our water and sanitation projects - her incredible photography really does prove that a picture is worth 1,000 words.

"One of my goals is to be able to use my photography to encourage awareness of social and environmental issues, both internationally and locally. I'd love to continue photographing for the Ryan's Well Foundation and other NGOs to help capture the stories of humanity and its challenges."

Describing herself as a self-taught documentary photographer, Lesley has travelled and photographed in a number of countries around the world including France, India, Malaysia, Trinidad, Spain and Turkey.

Lesley's advice for those looking to get involved:

"Start by thinking about what you like to do - whether it is writing, painting, sewing, working on cars, baking, gardening - then think about how you might apply these activities to make a difference. That will make getting involved easier, and more fun!"

You can make a difference, too!
Donate, Fundraise or Raise Awareness.
Then, be sure to share your actions with everyone you know!
