Kenya: The Samburu Project Phase 2

In the Wamba Region of Northern Kenya, we have been working in partnership with The Samburu Project in an effort to provide safe water to people who are often burdened with the task of walking up to 20km a day in search of - in most cases, dirty - water. We recently completed the 2011 Phase 2 project in the Samburu region and previously completed Phase 1 to serve over 1,000 people.

We are developing our next projects for 2012/2013 thanks in part to the support of Rally4Life. Mark & Jackie Jennings-Bates, Co-Founders of Rally4Life, aim to save 200,000 lives with the provision of clean water, shelter and education.

The Samburu Project Phase 2In October, 2011, Mark and Jackie visited the Wamba region to see our work first-hand.

"It was great to see such a recently completed project by Ryan's Well. Before, the community had to scramble dow the steep bank and try and get water from the dry river bed. Sometimes the children would get buried in mudslides. We were also told they used to get sick (from the water)."  - Rally4Life

Following their trip, Mark and Jackie submitted recommendations to the Rally4Life Board of Directors in favour of continued funding to support ongoing projects in the area - and we're thrilled these recommendations have been approved!

We look forward to continuing our work in Kenya together!

"It is hard to describe how grateful the people are for the transformation safe water has made to their lives. Everywhere we went we felt like royalty! They are wonderfully gracious and always smiling despite the hardships they endure and we are so thrilled that with your help we are able to come alongside and make life a little better." - Rally4Life
