2009 School Challenge Project
Safe Water and Sanitation for Adakpame School and Community

We launched our first School Challenge in late 2009 – to be completed in time for World Water Day 2010 – on March 22. The incredible 15 schools in 9 countries involved helped raise $22,575 – surpassing our target of $18,400 for this much-needed project!
Thanks to the funds raised by participating schools:
- A new well was constructed at Adakpame School in Togo with two school yard taps and two taps for the community.
- A latrine and handwashing station was completed.
- Community water and sanitation committees were established and trained along with school hygiene clubs.
- Fifteen teachers were trained as trainers of hygiene education!
