San Ignacio School

Grade 6 Students (Caracas, Venezuela)

San_Ignacio SchoolA team of Grade 6 students at San Ignacio School in Caracas, Venezuela have been involved in a project in their 'Study Techniques Workshop' and have chosen Ryan and his Foundation as their topic of study.

Over the past year they have researched, gathered information, made a PowerPoint and then presented it to their class, parents and some special guests. All teams did the same thing and then everyone voted for the best 4 teams in the school; those teams were asked to present to the entire school!

The day of their class presentation just happened to be Ryan's birthday, so one of the students' parents brought in a big chocolate cake decorated with a well and they all sang "Happy Birthday!" They also had cookies shaped in the letters R-Y-A-N.

San_Ignacio SchoolThis has been an amazing experience for the students; they have been inspired by Ryan and are very proud of their work. It is the first time that they have this kind of experience in their school. For the teachers, one of their goals is to to encourage students to be generous towards those who have less; their motto is: "In everything to love and serve." Their teacher has said:

"I've been a teacher for 40 years and I can tell you this has been the most exciting thing of all my teaching years. It's been a wonderful experience, this contact with your Foundation.  Every year I try to promote my students to choose topics of international interest, especially those related to world problems. I read about Ryan's story and loved it immediately. My students think he should be nominated for a Nobel Prize!"

UPDATE! On Friday, July 8, the school had their voting process for the winning presentations:

It's a pleasure to tell you that Ryan's Well team won the internal competition! They now have to present their project (including video of Ryan) in the main auditorium in front of a huge audience - 160 students of 5th grade, 160 students of 6th grade, parents, teachers and the principal of the school.
