Uptown Primary School
Grade 3 Students (Dubai)
Grade 3 students at Uptown Primary School in Dubai started learning about water and were inspired to get involved after watching videos of Ryan. They realized they CAN make a difference and organized a walk-a-thon at a local park.
Our unit of inquiry was about water and how it is a limited resource. We watched a video on Ryan’s Well and how he started his organisation. We watched it to learn about people who don’t have fresh water and how Ryan made a difference by raising money to help people in Africa and Asia. Ryan was only 7 years old when he started fundraising.
The students in Grade 3 at Uptown Primary School were so inspired by him that they decided to make a difference too. We all decided to have a walk-a-thon. Most students received sponsorships from friends and family for every lap they walked around Mirdiff Park. Some students walked over 5 km. This is about the same distance that children our age in parts of Africa and Asia walk every morning to get fresh water for their family.
We are extremely proud of the difference we have made. Our challenge for you is to make a difference too!
You can make a difference, too!
Donate, Fundraise or Raise Awareness.
Then, be sure to share your actions with everyone you know!
