Viscount Alexander Public School

Public School Students (Ottawa, Ontario)

Viscount Alexander Public SchoolThe students at Viscount Alexander Public School in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada - were so inspired when they heard Ryan's story, they decided to spring into action immediately! This small school of about 100 students started learning about water facts, researching, spreading awareness about water and also changing their ways by putting into practice what they had discovered. They celebrated with an Earth Day Assembly where they presented a play, songs and dances and a very moving slide show that highlighted the activities they had been involved in throughout the months.

Viscount Alexander Public SchoolRWF Education Coordinator, Elisabeth, was fortunate to have attended the event and was very moved by the spirit and enthusiasm in the small school gym; it certainly showed the ripple effect and the power young people have to make a difference!

Thank you so much for coming out to Viscount Alexander school for your presentation. The students were inspired. Each class is going to be doing an activity to help raise funds for the well.  We decided to work  just like Ryan in some way and to earn some 'Change for Chores'.

Viscount Alexander Public SchoolOne little boy in my class, went to the Sandy Hill Craft sale and sold cookies to help raise money for the well. (I think he is my Ryan), he raised well over $100, but he said he is not done yet, he has more plans for his cookies. Since then, we have been a busy school with bottle drives, bake sales, jewellery sales and a sucker sale for Valentine's Day! At last we have reached our goal for Ryan's Well. Thank you! - Teacher at Viscount Alexander Public School
