If you are like me, I was hurt and disgusted by stories and news articles about the hard earned money I had given away to charities that was not used for what I had entrusted the charity to do.
But instead of complaining I decided to do something about it.
Being a long time supporter of the Ryan's Well Foundation and all the great work they do (as a charity I rank them an A+), I tentatively approached them with a novel and outlandish idea: How about develop a giving group that gets to pick and fully fund projects in return for being an insider and seeing the project from idea to completion. I wanted to have members be able to say: “See that picture on my wall of all those smiling faces around a new water well? I helped build that.”
And they answered yes.
So after months of hard work from board members and staff (thanks so much everyone) we now have all the pieces in place to officially have the Ryan's Well Giving Circle pick its first project at the beginning of October of this year.
I pray in my heart of hearts that you are gently nudged to join me in a journey of discovery. A journey where together we will see our money turned into wells, turned into sanitation systems, turned into smiles, turned into a better future for so many and in turn you can say, I helped build that.
