10 Years of Partnership for WASH in Uganda
I am Odur Eddie, working with Rural Development Foundation (RDF) as Executive Director. RDF is a local NGO with Office in Lira Town, Lira District in Northern Uganda and implementing water, sanitation and hygiene related activities both soft and hard wares in the communities. The project areas also happened to be the areas where rebel Lords resistance army (LRA) had heavily terrorized, caused various atrocities.
All RDF project activities are being funded by Ryan’s Well Foundation. In brief, Ryan's Well has been the sole donor that has been supporting RDF in implementing all its WASH activities since 2006. Over 100 wells have so far been constructed with support from Ryan's Well. RDF‘s activities covered two districts initially, Lira and Oyam. It has now been extended to Apac District.
Ryan's Well, in partnership with RDF, has been extremely supportive to the disadvantaged children in schools and in the community by providing funds for the construction of safe water, proper sanitation in schools and promoting of positive hygiene practices through RDF which has always been results oriented. Over 70% of the death cases originated from drinking unsafe water, poor sanitation and hygiene practices. This is why Ryan's Well is so much concerned. With its experienced staff and results oriented approach, RDF has thus taken initiatives to specialize in WASH activities, basically with fund from Ryan's Well. Hence RDF is one of the active partners of Ryan’s Well Foundation.
On behalf of Rural Development Foundation, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Ryan’s Well Foundation for the continuous support to students and community, through RDF by providing safe water and proper sanitary facilities hence positive transformation of the disadvantaged society.

On a personal note, as we reach the 10th Anniversary of Ryan’s Well Foundation, I am extremely happy to mention that this is also my 10th Anniversary as a partner of Ryan’s Well Foundation.
It so happened that I was the lead person who worked tirelessly and physically participated in the construction of the first well located in Angolo Primary School in Otwal Sub County of Oyam District in the year 2001. At that time I was working with CPAR- Uganda as Water and Sanitation Officer. I have also been coordinating in the field with the community all Ryan’s Well team monitoring visits to Uganda for projects funded by Ryan's Well since that time.

Ryan's Well would like to extend our sincere appreciation for the dedication and committment of Odur Eddie and the entire RDF team in Uganda.
