Project Activities: Our local partners, Maasai Environment Development Consortium (MEDEC), are continuing to focus their efforts and resources as Maasai communities adapt to changing social and environmental conditions the Rift Valley region of Kenya. This program will address the primary constraint to living a more sustainable life - lack of access to safe water. This project phase will continue the successes from Phase 1 and Phase 2 with the goal of reaching more people through the following activities:

  • Construction of 10 -10,000 litre household rainwater harvesting tanks
  • Community training and education in regards to environment, hygiene, sanitation, the safe water chain of collection, storage and use, building and maintenance of tanks
  • Latrines to be constructed by households through training and education activities

Status: Activites are underway in Ngong Sub-county together with the School Challenge Project for 2011.  Community mobilization meetings have taken place to get local input for the tanks and training.
